BIMvoice trains professionals to the official buildingSMART certifications and helps projects and organizations put openBIM to work: IFC, IDS, BCF, model checking, information requirements, coordination. A worldwide openBIM practice led by Petru Conduraru.
Free and honest. Details and investment are discussed on the call.
"I have knowledge, but it is scattered. I have no structure."
A small firm owner, Romania LOGGED"I keep getting bad IFC files."
A BIM coordinator LOGGED"I can produce IFC. I cannot verify it."
An engineer LOGGED"Currently I am the only one focused on BIM. I miss a community."
A BIM specialist, Norway LOGGED"I've taken courses. But in the end, everyone takes courses, right?"
An engineer, Norway LOGGED"It's the future. I need to be ready before it arrives."
A BIM coordinator, Germany LOGGEDTenders are starting to ask for IFC. Clients are asking questions most teams cannot answer. The people who can do openBIM and prove it are still rare. That is the gap BIMvoice closes.
openBIM is freedom, and BIMvoice exists to make it work worldwide. Not only to talk about it.
Freedom means two things here. First, freedom for your data: your deliverables belong to you, in open formats, never held hostage by one platform. Second, freedom from licenses: nobody should need an expensive seat to learn, test, or deliver openBIM.
Most voices in this industry have something behind the advice. A vendor. A platform. A reseller margin. BIMvoice has none. And the knowledge is free on our channels: tutorials, IFC workflows, real problems solved on camera. Go watch it, use it, test us. What students pay for is the official certification path and what the credential does for a career.
BIMvoice means clarity in openBIM. A clear practical voice in all the BIM noise.

I am a civil engineer. I learned construction from the bottom: summers as a site laborer in Italy while earning my degree, finished in 2009. In Norway from 2013, I built my engineering career from the office up: bridge engineer on a 436 meter railway bridge, civil engineer, formwork designer, founder of my own small construction company, technical draftsman on Follobanen, BIM Lead, and finally BIM Project Engineer and Coordinator on Oslo's New Water Supply. Twelve years in Norway, ending inside the country's two biggest tunnel projects. In July 2025 I went full time on BIMvoice.
On E6 Rentvannstunnel, Oslo’s new water supply, models were not presentations. The site placed reinforcement directly from model data. When something was assembled, it was checked against the model: pipes with the right diameter, the right thickness, the right part in the right place. If the file was wrong, the site was wrong. Not theory. Scars.
In July 2025 we left Norway. We traveled six months through Southeast Asia with my wife and son, and in February 2026 we made Sibiu, Romania, home. From Sibiu the practice reaches the world: a certified buildingSMART Practitioner and Registered Training Provider, teaching what I did, with the tools I still use.
"I know that this is your life. I see the bright in your eyes when you talk about it."
An independent consultant, on a call
Thousands hold Foundation. Practitioner is still counted in hundreds.
buildingSMART International runs the global certification program for openBIM competence. If you want an internationally recognized openBIM credential, this is currently the only path. BIMvoice takes you through it.
The official certification programThe official entry certification for openBIM: ISO 19650, IFC, standards, workflows. Pass it and your name appears in the public buildingSMART registry. Anyone can verify it. That is the point.
Everything stays yours. Access never expires.
Ten BIMvoice students have taken the official buildingSMART Foundation exam. Ten passed. All on the first attempt.
"You set us up for the best case scenario." A student, minutes after passing
"25 out of 25. Now I understand the logic behind it." A student, exam day
The official buildingSMART credential that documents applied competence: you set information requirements, build the IDS, produce and check the IFC, run coordination, validate, and report issues. For years this certification lived mainly in German. It is now opening internationally, and in most countries there are still very few certified openBIM Practitioners. The earlier you earn it, the stronger the signal.
In most countries, Practitioner-certified professionals are still rare. That makes the credential a strong signal early.
The official openBIM Practitioner program at buildingSMARTPractitioner requires the Foundation certificate, 24 hours of training with a registered training provider, and two years of documented BIM experience with openBIM exposure. Unsure whether your experience qualifies? That is exactly what the Orientation call is for.
The exam application takes time to prepare properly. Starting early builds a strong application instead of a rushed one.
"With Petru, on the other hand, from the first few minutes, I felt that if I chose him, I would have his full support throughout the whole course. And this actually happened, from the first interactions all the way up to the exam day. After going through the materials and the quizzes several times, I felt prepared for the exam and I passed it on my first try."
"I chose Petru Conduraru and BIMvoice as the training provider. The training material Petru created on the subject was excellent, and his helpfulness and commitment are at an admirable level. So, was it worth the time and money? Absolutely, precisely because of the excellent training material."
"By the time exam day rolled around, I genuinely felt ready. I can honestly say that Petru is the best teacher I could have asked for. He has a unique ability to take dry, technical BIM standards and explain them with absolute clarity and real-world context."
"It was focused on the exam and was very valuable in helping me develop the necessary understanding and preparation. I gained a much clearer understanding of ISO 19650 and openBIM, and I now see how everything fits together."
"The Foundation certification has deepened my understanding of interoperability, IFC, and the collaborative workflows that make truly open, vendor-neutral BIM possible. Looking ahead, I'm excited to continue this journey by pursuing the Practitioner certification."
"Proud to have received my openBIM Foundation Professional Certification! This certification helped establish fundamental concepts of ISO 19650, openBIM and its benefits for all stakeholders. Huge thanks to Petru Conduraru from BIMvoice for delivering great training!"
"His ability to simplify complex ideas, paired with his supportive and positive approach, makes every session valuable. No question is too small, and he is dedicated to ensure everyone feels confident. I highly recommend him to anyone exploring OpenBIM."
"Today was my first One-On-One session with Petru, and within one hour, I learned a ton! The time and cost invested in these sessions will catapult my career to the next level, so I can't recommend Petru enough."

Training and project work are the same practice here. We teach openBIM because we use it, and we use it because we teach it. Fixed scope, fixed deliverables, no open-ended engagements.
One company or one project: BIM deliverables, IFC quality, information requirements, IDS usage, exchange workflows. You get a written report with findings ranked by impact, a 90 minute workshop with your team, and a roadmap. If you are starting or fixing a project, the audit's natural next step is a strategy sprint that leaves you with a working openBIM execution setup.
Fixed scope, fixed price, delivered in days. Investment is discussed in the first conversation.
A senior openBIM information manager on your project, part time: model checking routines, IFC quality control, IDS validation, issue management. This is the work Petru did on Oslo’s New Water Supply. Strictly limited engagements.
A capped monthly engagement for projects that need senior openBIM support without a full-time hire.
Your team, your projects, your deliverables: IFC in practice, IDS, model checking, coordination workflows. Including hands-on workshops on the free openBIM toolset: Bonsai, IFClite, IDS editors. If certification is the goal, the team follows the official Foundation path together.
Fixed scope per group. One invoice. No licenses required to start.
Two certified openBIM Practitioners on the team.
